The Route A bridge that spans the Fishing River just north of Liberty will be closed from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., on Thursday for emergency repairs, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation. During this closure, traffic can use Missouri 92 and Interstate 35 to detour around the bridge.
7-Eleven clerk had been robbed before

Kansas City police have identified the convenience store clerk killed in a robbery early today as Gurpreet Singh, 35, of Kansas City. The deadly holdup was recorded on the surveillance camera at the 7-Eleven at 8501 E. Bannister Road.
Overland Park man admits fraud involving homeowners

An Overland Park man pleaded guilty today to a fraud scheme that forced several low-income homeowners into bankruptcy. Federal prosecutors in Kansas City said that Harris Poulikidis pleaded guilty to causing someone to cross state lines as part of the scheme.
Two sentenced in drug trafficking ring

Two Kansas City men who were part of a drug ring were sentenced today in federal court in Kansas City, Kan. Secundino Aria-Garcia, 30, was sentenced to 210 months in federal prison. Sergio Mosqueda-Hernandez, 35, was sentenced to 121 months.

A 25-year-old man died early today after someone shot him repeatedly with a rifle near 57th Street and Highland Avenue. Police did not release the name of the victim, who died at a hospital.

A woman reported missing nearly a week has been found in California. Victoria E. Irons, 39, was reported missing after she was last seen March 10 in the area of 24th and Charlotte streets. Her family was concerned for her safety because she has mental issues.

A former air traffic controller at Whiteman Air Force Base pleaded guilty today to attempted online distribution of child pornography. Michael A. Worrick, 27, who was in the Air Force at the time the crime was discovered in 2008, entered the plea at the federal courthouse in Kansas City. He faces a sentence of five to 20 years.

Man dies after jump from seventh-floor window

A 20-year-old man died Monday night after he jumped out of a seventh-floor apartment window in the 900 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. The man’s grandfather walked into the man’s bedroom and saw him in the window about 7:10 p.m. The man said, “My life is (expletive) up” and “I don’t have anything to live for” before jumping out the window.

A Bayer CropScience plant worker in Kansas City who was exposed to insecticide fumes this morning has been released from the hospital, the company reports. Fire crews and an ambulance were called to the facility at 8400 Hawthorne Road shortly before 9 a.m. and reported that the worker had been exposed to Baythroid XL, which can be fatal if swallowed, according to online company information.

MULVANE, Kan. | The Kansas Highway Patrol has identified the four people who were killed Monday when a sport utility vehicle driving north in the southbound lanes of the Kansas Turnpike hit a minivan head-on. The crash happened about 4:40 a.m. south of Wichita. Both drivers and two passengers in the minivan were killed.

The bus was northbound on North 66th Street at the intersection with Parkview Avenue around 8:10 a.m. when it drove off the road to the right and struck Patience, the report said.

About a quarter mile of Kansas City Road near the Bass Pro in Olathe is back open after being closed because of a cut in natural gas line. A private contractor was boring in the area when it struck the line this afternoon. The break occurred at about 1:20 p.m. No injuries were reported.
