Man, 19, charged in fatal 2009 Norfolk shooting

NORFOLK A 19-year-old man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in September 2009 was taken into custody today in Virginia Beach. Ryan Nelson Johns was being held in the Norfolk City Jail on charges including murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and robbery, said Chris Amos, Norfolk police spokesman.

General Assembly compromises. Anglers keep license exemptions and comply with federal registry.

The General Assembly on Wednesday passed a bill that will keep Virginia anglers in compliance with a federally-ordered national registry. Because of several saltwater fishing license exemptions, Virginia was non-complaint with the National Saltwater Angler Registry. That would have forced state anglers to sign up for the registry and pay a yearly fee starting next year of between $15 and $25.
